MUSIC DIRECTOR
Chi-Sun Chan

Dr. Chi-Sun Chan holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree (DMA) in Brass Performance from Boston University and became the Music Director of the Brookline Community Band in September, 2017.

 

He has been Music Director of the Greater Boston Chinese Cultural Association Chinese Music Ensemble since 2002. During his tenure he has led the ensemble to release its first CD album "Gathering of the Heroes", perform the U.S. National Anthem at TD Garden for Boston Celtics, and in performances at Carnegie Hall, TedXBoston, and First Night Boston.

 

His music director experience has also included Taipei Kiwanis Band. Besides conducting, Dr. Chan is a founder of the Boston Synchrony Chinese Percussion Ensemble, an ensemble that promotes Chinese percussion music, and a guest lecturer on Western and Chinese classical music at Harvard University, Boston University, Berklee College of Music, University of Kentucky, Northeastern University, Indian Hill Music School, Wellesley High School, and Malden Public Library.
